Archives For Music

When I first heard this song on the radio I thought “older mature singer”. But seeing her you can’t help but think how someone so young can sound so restrained in her singing (which is way beyond her years). Another old soul comes into the spotlight and if she keeps this up she might, just one day, be the voice of her generation.

Music Break: Sean Hayes Sings Powerful Stuff (Live)

Jun Miyake is a Japanese composer and trumpeter of some renown who composed this tune for a Wim Wenders documentary on Pina Bausch. But this anonymous video is a really interesting mashup of old dance routines, slightly off the beat which gives it a tension you can’t take your eyes off of. (Even more interesting as a visual comment to Bausch’s work). A very rare find and a work of art in itself. It seems to be an act of love as no credit for the person that put this together except linkszumliebhaben.

!Happy New Year!

Let’s start out the year in a simple fashion. John Legend needs only an old piano and a crowed office to sound amazing. A sweet 15 minute Tiny Desk Concert from the folks at NPR who have gotten just about everyone to sing in their office.

And a few of my favorite women musical artists of 2013 with Buika who’s emotional/vocal chops are mind blowing and Laura Mvula (coming in at a tie for first) gets two as her cover of Michael Jackson’s song is incredible. (There are two even better live Mvula videos on this blog here.)

Happy New Year Music

Great addition to your holiday music collection that isn’t exactly holiday music (but in the spirit of the holidaze)… Merry Xmas!
